Paci and Park

Well, it was almost three weeks ago now that I took away RA's paci...The consequences:
1. No naps for 7 days (NONE!)
2. Not much sleeping for 5 days
3. No sleeping past 5:45-6:00am for three weeks (yes, as of this morning she still has only slept past 6am one times since the paci removal. It doesn't matter when I put her to bed)
4. One less thing we have to worry about when we go out and about
5. One less thing on my list of "to get done before the new baby comes" :-)
I took these pictures on the last evening she was allowed to have her paci.
And a trip to the park...Aunt Emma was over on a Sunday a few weeks ago and we set off for the park. I loved this first on because RA's hair was blowing and you can see their shadows...

And sliding and swinging fun! We are always glad to have Aunt Emma here! :-)

Carrie- Good for you!
Mara Kate still has a paci (she will be two next month), but we have slowly increased the restrictions of WHEN she can have it. Basically at this point she is only allowed to have it when she is IN her bed...either napping, nighttime or sometimes she asks to sit in her bed and look at books (and I let her suck on it while she is sitting in her bed)...other than that, she doesn't get it. I recently took it away from her while we are in the car because she is talking more and I hated hearing her talk from behind her paci...but, I am afraid of the no-sleeping thing. I really have NO idea how I am going to get rid of it all-together (little fearful of that day), but at least I don't have to make sure it goes with us everywhere now, which is an improvement! Anyway--hope the sleeping thing improves! Has she asked for it?

Wow, that's some major paci-withdrawal trauma! Our solution was to go on vacation for 5 days, leave Caleb at grandma's, and have her accidentally "forget" about the paci being in the diaper bag (no, we didn't tell her to). When we came home, he was cured (but I wasn't... I missed it more than he did, because it was so good for keeping him quiet in church)!
